Prez. Nana Addo to address the nation tonight
Today, Tuesday, January 5, 2021, President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to deliver his last State of the Nation address for his first term in office.The event is scheduled to start on the said date at 10:00 am.
Parliament claimed in a statement from its Directorate of Public Relations that participation is solely due to Covid-19 by invitation.
The presentation is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which states that “the President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation”
Meanwhile, the current Parliament is set to be dissolved on January 6, 2021, with the inauguration of the 8th Parliament on January 7.
In a statement, the Parliamentary Service outlined programs to usher in the 8th House to promote the swearing-in of Akufo-Addo, the President-elect.
This is also in line with the Presidential Transition Act, 2012 (Act 842) of the 1992 constitution.
