Kokrokoo Charities Foundation |
The Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia through his spokesperson Dr. Gideon Boako present dame cheque of 300,000 ghc to Kwame Sefa Kayi on behalf of the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation.
Dr. Boako said inadequate incubators for the survival of pre-term babies at various hospitals motivated Dr. Bawumia to personally donate to assist the project. Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, led by Kwami Sefa Kayi has been calling for help from the public to support its "Project 100" initiative which aims at supplying incubators to hospitals across the country to save the lives of the infant.
On Tuesday 1st June,2021, Africa Eye a Civil Society group expressed concern in its letter to Transparency International on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Donation to Kwame Sefa Kayi.
The Africa Eye writes with grave concern about the public donation made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana to Kokrokoo Charity foundation, founded and managed by Mr. Kwame Sefa Kayi, host of a popular radio show in Ghana.
The kleptocratic development crystalized the culture of compromised media silence which has undoubtedly bewildered our politics.
The top fourth estate player has pocketed a whopping amount of Ghc 300, 000, from the Vice President of the republic of Ghana. The journalist, Dr. Bawumia publicly accolades as ‘Chairman General’.
He would automatically dine with the ruling government for bad governance to worsen the cycle of poverty.
Difficult to comprehend why such support was not channeled to the much needed-poor begging Zongos within and around Kumasi central mosque, and at Sabon Zongo around Sarkin-Yaadegaawa’s house.
In Accra, why not the destitutes and futureless babies and children begging in front of Kaado’s mosque but rather donating to a colossal figure.
Whilst this damning development is a special case study ‘ Policies and Procedures of Anti-Corruption’ titled ‘the role of civil society in combating corruption’, and the appeal for resignation of the Vice President would be fruitless per our political culture, so therefore ,we shall be glad should transparency international questions Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for such a reckless action contrary to principles of good governance because The media can’t speak/write or question the action of the ruling government.
