Research, Development and Innovation plays Crucial Role in the growth of a Nation-MESTI
The Director for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) has stated that research, development, and innovation plays a crucial role in the growth and development of the country.
According to Mr. Kwamena Essilfie Quaison, it is no secret that scientific and technological advancements have a significant impact on every aspect of our lives, from healthcare to education, and from agriculture to industry.
Ghana has made great strides in the field of science and technology, and we are determined to build on this success and take it to the next level.
Mr. Quaison said he’s particularly pleased to see that Heritors Labs (HL) has taken the initiative to advance the R&D ecosystem in Ghana through their comprehensive series of events and initiatives.
“Their partnership with the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) Fund, which is aimed at strengthening research and innovation (R&I) ecosystems in Africa, is indeed a step in the right direction” he added.
Delivering his statement at a Workshop on Research Innovation Socialisation, Communication, Advocacy and Marketing (RISCAM) under the auspices of the Heritors Laboratory, Thursday 23rd March, 2023, Mr. Quaison indicated that at MESTI, they have been working tirelessly to support the transformation of research output and innovative ideas into industrial products and services through their GIRC-Centre platform.
“The platform brings together government, public research institutions, academia, innovation hubs, and the private sector to drive and grow collaborative research” he indicated.
He mentioned that MESTI is committed to supporting the commercialization of research outputs, prototypes, inventions, and innovative ideas to create marketable products and services.
They believe that current efforts being made to ensure effective collaboration will help to foster the development of the innovation ecosystem, promote skills development, and support entrepreneurship programs in Ghana, ultimately contributing to economic growth and development.
